Coldridge 2022 - The Din of Chaos 5

Thaeloc rolls his eyes as Cohas starts his big bad evil guy monologue, thinking himself why do they always have to do this and try to stroke up minute deals to survive. Clearing his head knowing this is going to be a big fight and needs to focus. The fighter jumps out of the way as the flames are sent out to hit everyone. The flames missing his body not leaving any more burns on his body. ?Hey flame bag I am already tired of hearing your voice why don't you shut up for a bit.? Reaching for the hilt of the sword the Burnside gave him. In his free time here carefully cleaning the rest to read the runes on the blade. Draws the sword of silence from the sheath and points it at Cohas. Then he turn his head and speaks to nothing. ?Go get your justice? The spirt of Coq appearing and rushing towards the spirt to take a chunk out of him with Thaeloc behind him sword in one hand the bottle in the other to slice with the broken bottle.

Xaria rolls out of the way when the flame attack is launched, just barely able to avoid getting burned. She tries her best not to linger in places that are touched by magma and fire, but it's hard given the battlefield. Realizing that some of her newfound friends are still not quite healed, she lets a silvery glow pass over them all in an attempt to heal them up properly.

Cahya had steadied his bow on Cohas, counting on the magic of it to hit its mark, even despite the movement of the spirit. He lets his fingers slide free of the taut string, allowing the arrow to fly free toward the nearly ascended being. He would not allow this evil to continue existing, he would prove himself worthy to the book peddler and his mission. Perhaps this group could liberate the people of coldridge...at least the ones not brainwashed. Or would the grasp of Cohas break free from their minds? So many question. The healing of Haunt Zoe is felt and appreciated. With the clamor of battle underway, he stuck to his long range weapon.

Nerene is unfazed by the lack of connecting attacks from her, since it was just a warmup and there'd be plenty of future chances yet. Not daring to let her attention stray from Cohas, she thusly is aware of what's coming, options run through, including having her companion try to get in the way of the flames. Choosing to ultimately just dive, the stream of fire is missed by a narow margin, the heat of it felt at her back. Regaining height in moments, the Paladin becomes aware of the familiar healing energy from Haunt Zoe, visible relief felt at her injuries being mended. Energised by that boost, back to the false god she goes, the air currents ensuring her speed increases while Cohas is neared. This time, the sceptre is aimed at his skull instead, but even this is more a distraction than anything. While her attack is carried out, the doppleganger is coming in from behind, intent on merely making contact with bare flesh before continuing on back to a safe spot. Even if again she failed though, at least Nerene was being a distraction who could get out of range if needed, and be an annoyance from afar.

Thaeloc not letting the complete miss from his last attack get him down as this is going to be a long haul of a fight. The heat in his armor getting hotter with all the magma bubbling up around them, if this goes on for too long he might have to start stripping some of it off. He hasn't heard anything said by Cohas so maybe that sword was magical and stopped him from speaking for a bit and hopefully limited his use of magic for the time being. Feeling a cool rush run over his body as the silver light passes over himself. Qog lunches again trying to get his large jaws on the Spirit hoping to sink his teeth in deeper this time then just giving him a scratch. The Thane using this moment that Qog attacks to flank and attack from the other side and attack at the same time. Hopefully he isn't so nimble that he is able to escape from both attacks at once. Even if he had just dodged Nerene attack as the fire runs right past himself and Qog

Cohas feels the bite from Qog, but it's a mere scrape against his tough, divinely thick skin. He sets his arm into a white-blue fire to damage the bear summon, while simultaneously casting fireballs in multiples toward the crowd with an eerie precision. The spirit manages to get his arm out of Qog's mouth and attempting to kick him hard off the side of the platform and into the magma below. He is unsure if it will lead to the spirit's eternal rest, but given his current placement on the battlefield, it seems like the best move for a close range attack. As he's currently fussing with the spirit bear, Cahya's arrow moves swiftly through the air and catches him in the shoulder hard enough to force him back a few steps. He summons a giant fireball especially for him and sends it through the air with an unnatural speed. Finally, with a hiss, Cohas narrowly avoids Nerene's attempt to hit him in the head, surprisingly good and multi-tasking in battle, so the closer she gets, he taps into a deep telekinetic ability with every intention of using it to slam her and Thaeloc against the far northern wall, directly above the pit. He says nothing, but a smile curves his lips that precedes the softest chuckle.

Marceline dog-rolls Mera out of the way to avoid fireballs. The plan isn?t totally perfect, considering the hazards all over this fiery inferno of a room. But in the end, she manages to deposit the child in an acceptable spot, and then turns to the fray. She isn?t a small dog, but she can be small-minded. Her lips pull back in a demonic growl that would make even the most savage of hellhounds proud. As if by some unspoken cue, Mera uncorks the bottle of mist and allows it to spread. In this atmosphere, it creates a feeling like steam is filling up the area. Shrouded by the cover, Marceline summons that small dog energy and goes for the ankles! Chomp chomp!

Nerene very nearly was controlled by Cohas, with only luck ensuring the telekinetic grasp didn't succeed in smashing her against one of the walls. With ruffled feathers, both figuratively and literally, there's annoyance at not having been able to lay a hand on the aspiring deity as of yet. Because of this, the Dark Angel is visibly annoyed once she's resumed being able to hover and is planning the next attempt at inflicting damage. Everything that's occurred thus far is reviwed, and at least she nods, calling over the doppleganger. Instead of launching another double attack that would more than likely fail, the conjured flame is repurposed, ensuring she's covered by an ever swirling mass of fire that moves with her. Only when the process is done does she then soar downward, a vicious smile visible while the blazing sceptre is swung at Cohas' torso. This is a feint though, and with her non-dominant arm, the Paladin seeks to make contact with his throat, to both do harm and ensure there'd be no more talking from him until the injury was healed.

Cohas watches as steam rises and narrows his voided eyes. He still manages to see Marceline in the nick of time, and he steps out of her way. Realizing that the stairs are rather narrow and he is quite surrounded, Cohas ascends the stairs to the platform and altar, putting much-desired space between himself and those attacking him. He is fast, but he knows luck can run out. Nerene's hit to his throat winding him. Everyone wants to shut him up, it seems, though he hasn't done much more than offer a way out. He doesn't need to speak to be effective, however. If anything, he's been rather silent. His ire rises along with his arms, which suddenly move perpendicular to his body, lingering on the outer edges of his aura. Those close to him like Nerene, Marceline, and Thaeloc, would likely feel the power moments before it hits, a wave of telekinesis that he intends to use to drive them back down the stairs toward the entrance, donning a cruel smirk as he does so. "I'm tiring of this," he rasps, expression unblinking, and he suddenly aims to manipulate the energy he is exuding to once again guide his adversaries into the pit to the left and right of his stairs.

Thaeloc felt the mental push by Cohan slide him back a few inches. Copying the smile he sent before trying to push Thaeloc against the wall failed. ?Nice try but too bad" More sweat rolls down Thaeloc's body at time making his vision blurry at times. It seems the cocky words came too soon as Thaeloc feels the push again this time not towards the flaming pit of liquid hot magma but down the stairs. Tumbling down a few of the stone steps grunting each one he hots as he rolls. Qog having been able to escape the damage Cohan has tried to deal out to him leaps over Thaeloc as he is being pushed away his claws out looking to ripe the flesh off the front half of the spirit. As Thaeloc get up his arm hanging limp at his shoulder crouches down and jams his shoulder back in the socket with a sickening pop before getting to his feet and closing the distance once more as he only has close range weapons. This time lunging with the bottle of a knee.

Xaria is hit and she goes down, unmoving for awhile afterward. Giving the full extent of her injuries, she's dangerously close to never rising again. The haunt lays in a crumpled heap, expression one of pain and regret, and she finds that she no longer has the strength to move. Her vision is blurry and the pain is immense, so she just stops moving for a time. She lays there, drifting in and out of consciousness, completely vulnerable in her wounded state. The blue-haired haunt trembles, and she remains dazed as the battle rages on around her.

Marceline feels the wave of telekinesis, yet is somehow miraculously able to keep her own footing. She looks around to take stock, and she doesn?t quite like Cohas being up on the raised dais. It seems to put him at an advantage that all attackers have to scale the stairs. But she doesn?t see a way around it, so she runs up as quickly as she can. Perhaps the mist will keep her shaded as she rears back and goes straight for the jugular this time, snapping her teeth at the creature?s throat.

Cahya roars in pain when the fire singes his fur and further burns the tender skin beneath, causing him to yowl and roll away from Cohas' flames. He is thankfully not near the dais with the others when Cohas attacks, but he does see Xaria go down with a hit. Patting out the flames and mewling in discomfort, he runs to the healer and ducks down. The rejuvenation bottle Nerene had gifted him is taken from one pocket on his belt, uncorked and used on the Haunt. He gently cradles her head and administers the spell. This was a good a time as any, as they needed to keep their healer up and going. "There, there." he soothes, hoping this will help her out. Another red potion bottle is tucked on her person. For now, he remains with her until entering the din is wise again.

For now, he remains with her until entering the din is wise again.

Thaeloc happy that the two attacks from himself and Qog were successful Thaeloc appearing to be more so has the stab to Cohan knee went incredibly deep. With the bottle still stuck in the leg he just simply pulls it up the leg the jagged sharp blade like edges to cut the knee to upper thigh into shreds. Qog standing up on his hind legs leans forward to land and knock Cohan to the ground and hold him there as he bites at him.

Marceline is getting frustrated, and it shows. She entirely missed her first intended strike, so she reverts to a wider target. Hanging back while Thaeloc and Qog make their attempts, as she doesn?t want to get in the way or hinder them, she leaps forward again afterwards and aims for Cohas?s middle. With an entire torso to grab onto, hopefully at least she can taste blood. Meanwhile, little Mera finds her way to Haunt Zoe and the big kitty. She offers up her bottle of spirit water, too, in case the red potion wasn?t enough to help the older haunt get back to fighting fit.

Cahya is relieved that Haunt Zoe is healed and of the living again, as far as feelings go anyhow. He gently settles her down to regain herself, then straightens to his feet. Mera is offered a smile of thanks, though he steps in front of the little one and Haunt Zoe, then trains the bow and arrow in Cohas - this arrow aimed right for the spirit's chest. Keeping the bow steady, he charges it up for the hit. Eyes following his comrades, ears trained on the little one and the healer. Each accounted for. The pain of those burns throb and ache in his skin, but the cat perseveres.

Xaria feels something around her that drops the temperature in her space a few degrees, no longer stifling. She goes from pale and almost lifeless to gasping and clutching at Cahya with an intense fear that she's not shown before. When she realizes what he's done, she hugs him tightly and tries to regain her sense of self. "Thank you," she whispers, rising again. She sees the others in their fight against Cohas as her strength returns, and she is suddenly filled with a certain resolve. After gently guiding Mera back to a safe space, the haunt slowly walks to the bottle of the stairs. She scans the others to see who is in the most need of healing, then she fires up her powers and attempts to draw life force out of Cohas and turn it into healing power for both Nerene and Thaeloc. It would take his essence, weakening him in an attack and using his own power to heal his adversaries. She can't think of a way more to attack Cohas that is more fitting.

Nerene is flung full on toward the pit, just able to turn so that it's her left side which smacks against the stone edge. This pain had been expected, so there's a soft cry of pain, the volume controlled to be normal and not a paralytic pitch. While stunned just long enough to disappear from view, the Paladin reappears, still cloaked in flame that runs unceasingly along her skin without damaging it or her hair. Once finally well above the chasm again, the fire coating her wings is redirected toward her left hand, to craft a pernach that gets a testing swing. To this she nods in a satisfied way while the healing energies embrace her again, easing the steady pain, before circling above Cohas, waiting for a prime opportune moment to rush down. With the multi-direction attack serving as distraction, down Nerene soars, even more of the blaze altered as the clubbed weapon is swung. Mid-course, is thins and stretches into a whip, the length of this seeking to find purchase with her foe's neck with the intention of adding insult to injury. The moment she does, there's a retreat so that if the Paladin's aim was true, the spirit will find himself choking and in pain from the burns. It's vicious, but she frankly does not care, and wants to humiliate as well as hurt him.

Cohas watches as he harms both Nerene and Thaeloc, but he doesn't bask in the accomplishment for long. He's trying his best to move and keep out of harm's way, but Thaeloc is fast approaching along with his spirit bear. He holds a hand up in an attempt to keep them both at bay, but he is finally not fast enough, and Thaeloc's broken bottle carves into the being's knee in a manner that will definitely slow him down. He is furious at this new turn of events, black blood trailing down his golden skin and pooling around his sandal. In response, his first instinct is to backhand Thaeloc with added telekinetic force, hoping to not only injure him, but shame him some in the process. Whether that hits or not, Qog is soon upon him, and he makes his attempt to quell the beast's life force with some of the divine power he's amassed. Nerene is narrowly evaded, as her ability to fly keeps her mostly visible in the glow around the altar. Following that, he rises and puts the altar between himself and the others, his knee a problem he doesn't have time or opportunity to immediately mend. It is this quick thinking that ensures Marceline is unable to attack him the first time. However, her second strike is more calculated as she aims for his torso, and the wound she deals him leaves him reeling and dripping black blood. He feels some kind of poison working through him now, and the spirit goes from being a creature of fire to sweating and looking ill as the haunt poison seems to do something unexpected to him. He attempts to move away and further up the second set of stairs, but due to his knee being injured, and now his torso on top of this new venom coursing through him, his movements are not as swift and spritely as they once were. He's actually a bit sluggish. He spies the portal he has at the top of the stairs and it seems as though he's attempting a getaway, with that portal as his destination.

Nerene looks only slightly disappointed by the 1/4th success rate thus far with harming Cohas, regardless of the one that connected having caused damage. Chiding herself for that brief lack of focus, it's back to the fight she goes mentally, noticing the aspiring god beginning a retreat and following his gaze toward the portal. Reacting to that, it's toward the same exit the Paladin now flies, landing in front of it while the fire slides off and reshapes into her doppleganger. A second after that, off it goes, darting back and forth around its target while she stands in front of the gateway. "See, told you. Afraid of us. Gotta go through me to escape, so try it." Motioning with her left hand, she now prepares for a rush, while the creation morphs and becomes a net that aims to pin Cohas down until he could destroy it.
