Pela

Daughter of Karn, Celestial of the Afterworld.
Symbol: An Ankh.
Last Known High Priestess: None.
Sphere of Influence: The Afterworld, Death, Reincarnation, Respite.

Pela is often called the Queen of Respite or Goddess of Respite, due to The Spirit Realm that she governs often being a place of peace for those who have died. She is the very embodiment of the afterlife, created by Karn to be his daughter as a direct counter to Osnodon and his Underworld, which is typically created for souls of more nefarious individuals

She is the Matriarch of all of the naturally born haunts, the original eight lines all born from her two affairs with Kulanin, God of Deception and Shapes. As such, black dogs roam The Spirit Realm and the land of the living, guiding lost spirits to the realm they help govern and often guiding them through The Spirit Realm to wherever they are meant to go next. They are not reapers, but rather, guides to help those navigate death, which can be confusing.

Pela is often depicted with angel's wings that glow blue, in addition to being "pale as a ghost".

Pela's existence is why The Spirit Realm also exists, as she serves as a celestial being worthy of protecting those who traverse her realm, whether she leads them to reincarnation or they choose to stay. The rare few choose to petition other deities to regain life, though this is only offered due to Pela's generosity, as she would prefer to reincarnate those who find themselves in the embrace of her celestial realm.

She has been known to occasionally release a spirit or soul from her realm for specific purposes or goals, and she also has the ability to turn people into haunts while within her realm, a power she borrowed from Kulanin and made her own.

Her main goal is to serve as a good-aligned death deity to counter Osnodon's grasp on the dead with his influence and his Underworld. The Spirit Realm is a kinder version of the afterlife that exists out of necessity.
