Playing a God

Introduction

There are certain things that go with playing a deity in game, and this page will outline the very firm rules that apply to every single god character in game. These are considered non-negotiable, whether you have a character that ascended, or have a character that was automatically a god from the beginning and gifted to you by a deputy.

Rules

  • 1. Gods do not duel.
    • Once a character becomes a god, they are retired from dueling from the moment they ascend, forward.
  • 2. Gods cannot transfer their godhood without permission from the current deputy team, moving forward, not even to a different character of the same player.
  • 3. Unless the character originally belonged to a player, any deputy-given deity can be transferred to someone else if they fall inactive.
    • Example: Gvaudoin was a played character prior to her ascension. She cannot be transferred because she is not the creative property of anyone except her original player.
    • A character like Methalius, who was given to a player by the deputy team, could be recast and given to a different player if the player he was given to fell inactive.
  • 4. A deity can have their godhood stripped away if they are irresponsible with it.
    • Example: If a player is causing ooc distress or abusing their god's power oocly in a way that is obvious to others, that deity will be stripped of their power ICly by Rakah, but not killed.
    • The criteria for that would be if the person is using their status as a god to abuse players, or using their status to manipulate roleplays in ways that are disruptive to and upsetting to the other players involved. It is not necessarily a first offense, but should involve some documentation of being spoken to about the incident. Then, the deputies will track if there becomes a pattern of problematic behavior that is directly tied to the character having godly powers.
    • This rule is in place to ensure that players use their deity character's power wisely. This is on a case-by-case basis as to what triggers this response from the deputy team. A majority vote by the deputies is required to do this.
  • 5. No player character can ascend without the approval of the Deputy Team, moving forward. There may be extra steps involved with any ascension as well.
  • 6. Deity characters can smite characters, but it doesn't kill them. It will send them to a puzzle room that they have to solve to get out of. The reason we are implementing this is because if a player is openly disrespecting an actual god to their face, that deity should be able to do something about it. If a deity cannot smite someone, are they really a deity?
    • Note: If you are smote by a deity in game and feel it was done in error or the command abused, keep a log/screenshots of what transpired prior to the execution of the command to bring to the Deputy Team.
  • 7. Autohits and godmodding are still not allowed. Yes, your character is a god, but you still have to conform to the rules that others do. Your character is powerful and can be played as such, but autohits still break rp etiquette, and being overpowered in an rp still isn't cool.
    • The only exception to this rule is the deitysmite command.
  • 8. We do not use the term demi-god/demi-goddess for the offspring of gods in game. We use the term divinities instead.
    • Example: If the other parent is a demon, the godly offspring would be named a divine demon.

These are the current rules for playing a god in Karchan. Check this page often, because we may occasionally add things as needed depending on things we maybe didn't foresee being a problem at the time.
