Land of Karchan

Pleased to Meet You

Date: 4/23/17

Someone named Xenith is attempting contact with you.
You tell [to Xenith] : Greetings. How may I be of service?
Xenith tells [to you] : My name is Xenith de Lourdes. I found this pendant on the ground. I've seen other people wearing them. What is this?
You tell [to Xenith] : My pendants have been appearing all over, it seems. Whoever wears the pendant may ask favors of me. It gives them some modicum of control over my actions. The stone pendant is called Klyavrite, which is also my namesake. *Pause* How can I help you, Mr. de Lourdes?
Xenith tells [to you] : A pleasure to meet you, Klyavrite. What sort of favors do you perform? Help someone move? Give a ride home?
You tell [to Xenith] : My favors are dependent on the needs of those who desire help. I can do a great many things; you need only ask.
Xenith tells [to you] : I just find myself without a properly calibrated sense of scope when it comes to magical things. For instance, a few months ago I would have thought communicating with a being through a pendant and receiving favors quite far fetched. I also think lifting a rock without touching it far fetched, as well as teleportation, traveling backwards through time, and raising the dead to life. But apparently many of these can be done.
You tell [to Xenith] : *Soft chuckle* There are many that are not well versed in the lengths that magic can go. There are a great many things that can be accomplished with training and study. Then again, you could always take the easy way out and ask me to adjust your sense of scope accordingly. There are few things that cannot be done via magic in this land, it's simply a matter of personal desire to learn or learning to better utilize innate abilities you already have. Many people with abilities hone their skills for years, and thus, can do some fairly incredible things. *pause* What is it that you desire of me, if anything? Even if you do not ask for a favor, I may still be of some help, surely...
Xenith tells [to you] : I suppose magic is a skill improved with training, no different from fencing. Well Klyavrite, to be honest with you, conventional wisdom is to judge a man by the company he keeps. I don't know how much control you exert over your pendants, but the other gentlemen I've seen wearing them are varying degrees of unsavory. I suppose what I would like most is to simply get to know one another.

You tell [to Xenith] : *There is a long pause as Klyavrite considers your request* I have no control over who gains one of my pendants. I will say that the men who currently wear them are very broken, tortured people. Time and circumstances have not been kind to them. I prefer not to look at them as unsavory, but seen the potential for improvement instead. They have had rough lives, and as such, it has made them cold. If I can ease their suffering, I will. I have not seen either of them do anything bad to anyone that was major. Annoying, yes. Mildly harmful, perhaps, but nothing that would make me consider them unsavory. Perhaps I am just capable of seeing further into their hearts due to my own abilities. They need guidance and to be shown that not everyone is a potential tormentor. Do with that what you will, Mr. de Lourdes...
Xenith tells [to you] : Please, Xenith. I'm not Mr. de Lourdes. My thoughts are much the same, at least as far as Cal is concerned. Odd sense of humor, but doesn't seem malicious. You seem a good soul, Klyavrite. I think I am very pleased to meet you indeed.
You tell [to Xenith] : I have seen the darkness inflicted upon them both. They are broken. I can only do what I can to try and guide them, heal them even. I am an imperfect creature myself, however. For the sake of full disclosure, I am only able to help those that are willing to give something in return for my service. I always do something minor though. I take the least that I can. I have given temporary numbness and temporary bouts of vision disturbance. I am careful about what I select as I do not intend to do more damage than good. That is my sphere of influence. If you require nothing more of me, I believe I shall take my rest. Today has been eventful. I fare thee well, Xenith...
