Date: 4/25/17
Location: Unknown.

Someone named Xenith is attempting contact with you.
You tell [to Xenith] : Greetings, Xenith. How do you fare this evening?
Xenith tells [to you] : Very well, Klyavrite, thank you. I've been thinking on what you said. There are certain tasks I'd pay almost any price to accomplish, but I am well versed in literature pertaining to these sorts of arrangements. Would I know the cost before our agreement is sealed, or only after?
You tell [to Xenith] : Typically only after, though I am willing to bargain a little if something particular is cause for concern. I only take small things here and there. I do not inflict permanent maladies on people. What is on your mind?
Xenith tells [to you] : It's just that, were you a djinn, or a mischievous sprite, I might ask for the strength to slay the man who killed the Baron de Lourdes, and the cost would be my desire to do so. Or I might ask to know how to find him, and the cost my sword arm, or skill. You tell [to Xenith] : I am neither of those things. My intentions are to help, not to hinder. I could tell you the location of the individual you speak of, but I would not leave you without a means to defend yourself. I am not so cruel. What I take in payment for my services is usually something small and perhaps a little irritating. I do not render people incapable of defending themselves...
Xenith tells [to you] : I retain misgivings of a general nature regarding signing a blank check. I think I am not yet ready to proceed, but I thank you for your time and attentions, always.
You tell [to Xenith] : I am here when you decide. There is never any pressure. I will say that I have a request of you, if you will accept. Calzier has temporarily put someone I guided to Karchan in a room at the Frosthaven Inn. I would like for you to watch after him. He's in a bit of trouble and I can see that your heart is full of good intentions. If you will do that for me until I can further help this individual, I am willing to take that as payment for the information you seek. Only let me know...
Xenith tells [to you] : I will gladly do this thing. I am in fact at this moment in my own room at the Frosthaven Inn, nothing could be less of a burden.
Xenith tells [to you] : *The connection to Xenith's mind suddenly takes on what can be best understood as a texture of oiliness. Smooth, slick, and unclean. The mind that speaks through the channel is no longer Xenith's* You traipse in the garden of another, my friend. This is the second time outside forces have sought to disturb my herd.
You tell [to Xenith] : *The being's voice suddenly becomes more chipper and amused* It may not be your garden. You may simply be the bug feasting on the flowers and sowing discord amongst the leaves. Who are you to speak to me in such a manner? Perhaps I will clip your tiny wings for meddling in my personal affairs. Who are you precisely? You will tell me your connection to Xenith or I will strip you away from his mind like a sheet of fly paper. It's a fitting analogy, yes?
Xenith tells [to you] :Come now, with threats. You enter my home, stomp on my lilies, and declare your strength? True though it may be, that is no way to treat a gracious host. I am a social creature, I enjoy communing with my peers. You may call me Xaase, and the human is mine to claim, by virtue of his blood.
You tell [to Xenith] : I care not for who you believe you can and cannot claim. I do not make threats idly, especially to inferior creatures. Can you withstand the power of a deity, I wonder? Specifically, me? Relinquish Xenith to me or I will simply end you instead of allowing your continued existence. He is no longer part of your herd. This is my final warning to you, Xaase. Make your decision now...
Xenith tells [to you] : How many deities have your own eyes seen rise and fall? Zhanos, Dagorii, Obsidian, Yasec, Victoria, need I go on? I do not doubt your power. But do not dismiss me for choosing another route than entering this game of godhood. Xenith, he is of little importance. His father is mine. I have a vested interest in his safety, for now, and it is he who you are seeking.
You tell [to Xenith] : You speak of falling deities, yet only two which you have named are fallen. Clarify your words. If you desire my understanding, you mustn't speak in riddles. My patience is wearing thin...
Xenith tells [to you] : Rising and falling my friend, rising and falling. The pantheon is in such flux, each decade new faces and old faces gone, who can keep up? And those that remain gods, perhaps Isodien's influence fades and Cinash gains new followers. I seek stability, nothing more or less. I may never rise to your lofty heights, but I need never worry of falling from them either. I am a simple shepherd, and through my flock I secure my position. Xenith has strayed. It was an oversight. His father did not know of his birth. I myself was unaware until he began sending forces against his father, to divine his identity, his location. So that is our scenario. My sheep has strayed, and now you hold him. I don't begrudge you that. But let us settle this amiably, you and I. What do you seek about the father?
You tell [to Xenith] : I wish to fulfill my end of the bargain Xenith sought to strike with me. The man who supposedly killed his father's location is what he seeks. I also seek to know more about his predicament, so that I may enlighten him, and so that I may store the knowledge you give me. The more I know, the better your chances of meeting your goals. Tell me about yourself and fill in the holes you've dug, please.
Xenith tells [to you] : Xenith's father, many of his brothers and sisters, they camp in the deserts of Haavi now. They will be moving, of course. I will keep them moving, through the the wild lands of this world. You may have their location whenever you seek it, I will not even attempt to conceal it. But I will goad them ever onward, and my flock travels swiftly. His predicament is simple. His mother was unfaithful, his presumed father, the Baron, ungrateful. The Father spared the Baron's life when first they crossed in anger. He did not make the same mistake the second time. I am a simple creature, given to my own predilections. My brethren and I were once imprisoned, a hell buried beneath a hell. But we chipped at the prison until we found a crack. Through this I met the Father, and through the Father, his children, my flock.
You tell [to Xenith] : What were the reasons they met in anger? Because of Xenith's mother, or does the plot thicken? *long pause*
Xenith tells [to you] : Because of Xenith's mother, the first time. Because of the Baron's pride, the second. This much is all known to Xenith.
You tell [to Xenith] : I see. Hmm...*trails off for a moment* I ask that you fully relinquish Xenith to me. I do not intend to bring any harm to him. Though my allegiances may be deemed questionable by some, I assure you that I will take care of him for a time. Perhaps I will reach out to you again in the future, and I thank you for your patience. My ire rises quickly when problems arise at times...
Xenith tells [to you] : I do not know that what you ask is possible, without causing harm to the man. I am in his blood. Part of his blood. But I will pledge my noninterference. The Father is mine, I only act when he is involved.
You tell [to Xenith] : I find this to be a fair and balance answer to my request. Very well, then. I may reach out to you in the future if I have questions, but for now, I leave you be. Please allow communication with Xenith again.
Xenith tells [to you] : *The oil recedes, Xenith clearly having no awareness of what took place.*
You tell [to Xenith] : It seems as though I have hit a snag in our discussed deal, Xenith. I regret to inform you that though I can give you the location of the man you seek, he is being constantly guided away from you by another force. I am...unable to do much more than tell where they are at that second. By the time you reach him, he will likely no longer be there. I would still very much like for you to help the man at the Inn, but I understand if you do not wish to aid him when I cannot give you exactly what you seek. You have my apologies...
Xenith tells [to you] : My new friend, if I am honest with you, there is a very good chance I would have met the man at the inn over a coffee while reading and helped him anyway. If I may presume? There may come a time when his location at that second is all I need. If I may call on you then, I consider our books balanced.
You tell [to Xenith] : You may call on me indeed. If I become aware of him being within close proximity with you, it is not information I will withhold. On that note, thank you for your willingness to help. The man you'll meet soon is in trouble. I've led him to you, but am unsure why. Thank you and farewell...
