Shara

High Cleric: Yolaniken Gatewood

Shara is one of the nature deities that originally split from Mielikki's shattered essence, and she has reign over freshwater sources such as rivers, streams, lakes, and waterfalls.

She was originally a kind and patient deity, but due to some trickery by Kulanin, she has become somewhat jaded over the years. Shara is distrustful of men, believing that most of them seek only to deceive women, which is part of the reason the Kelpie race exists.

Kulanin, a stronger deity, tricked Shara into sharing his bed, and through this coupling, the kelpie race was born. Kelpies have a horse form, and they are warriors that often find themselves at odds with normal men. Because Shara was fooled by Kulanin's disguise, she gave her kelpie a hunger for the flesh of men as punishment to the male gender.

Men that Shara deems worthy of women will never be met with a kelpie's hunger. So far that list is few.

Shara lives on the Island of Sharana'ar, where her kelpies roam freely and men are not allowed to traverse. It is a paradise of waterfalls and lakes, and her temple resides there atop an easily-scaled mountain.

Shara came to trust Yolaniken, as he declared himself one of her followers many years ago and has sought to enforce treating women respectfully. They have a child together who was conceived through magical means. Her name is Caspiana, The Fountain of Youth.
