The Gatewood Family

The Gatewood Family is a family hailing from the country of Ivillei. They are eight siblings with psychic abilities, and from oldest to youngest is as follows: Yolaniken, Aolinn, Yahlavael, the twins Ynvalin and Alithia, and Yliekiiel.

Introduction to Karchan

The Gatewoods were homeless prior to coming to Karchan, and the first to arrive on Kuri was Yliekiiel Gatewood, the youngest. Not long after arriving, he landed a position in Tiassale as the ruin's seer, and he still gives readings to this day. He is rumored to be the strongest psychic amongst the Gatewoods, with Aolinn being a close second.
The others soon arrived hunting for their baby brother, who had went missing several months earlier. Finally, an anonymous tip found the family arriving in Karchan by means of a portal. Aolinn was the second to show up, and was lead to Yliekiiel by a large wolf which was later revealed to be the orc Majix. The rest of the family soon followed, looking for their lost sister and brother.

Naming Conventions

Due to an unbreakable curse, all Gatewoods are forced to have the men named with a 'Y' name, and women with an 'A' name, or they will die by their 5th birthday. It has been tested several times over the years to great heartbreak, but the curse of the naming convention is simple enough that tragedy can be easily avoided if the terms are obeyed. Aolinn is the only one that knows how deep this curse runs.
There is one notable exception to this rule, but it is because the child was partially divine, and that trumped the curse.

Powers

The Gatewoods are strong psychics, and the only one amongst them known to have any magical ability is Aolinn, who once found her calling with the Magii of the Inner Flame. Their powers are as follows:
Yolaniken - Empathy
Aolinn - Card Reading and magic, but only when involving her cards.
Yahlavael - Unknown. Rumored to have lost his abilities.
Ynvalin - Telekinesis
Alithia - Astral Projection
Yliekiiel - Strong visions of the past, present, and future. Clairvoyance.

Yarras - Unsure, as he is currently an infant.

Original Gatewoods

Yolaniken: Yolaniken is adopted, but was still oddly born an empath, making him easily blend in with the rest of his adoptive family. He currently runs two bait shops, The Happy Hooker and Master Baiter's, in Crocodile Cove and Sjolen respectively. The names were suggested by Aolinn as a joke.
Aolinn: Aolinn is the Mystic of Ammerville, and with the help of her fiance, Shaman Sealbhn Milis, she makes potions, reads tarot cards, makes charms, and other things befitting of her station as the city-state's mystic.
Yahlavael: Assumed to bounce around between his family's work places.
Ynvalin: Ynvalin, though he is a psion, prefers to work as an artist when he is not in the ocean. His work can be seen in Rouge, a nudie mag.
Alithia: Alithia has The Gazer's Gate in Pendulis, where she reads runes for those that come in to her shop.
Yliekiiel: Ylie is the Seer of Esmeraulde (formerly Tiassale), and has helped law enforcement in the past on various cases.
Aaviah: Aaviah is probably the strongest of the Gatewoods. She has many psychic talents that she uses to man her own shop in her tent that she moves around to various locations depending on the traffic there.
Yarras - Currently unknown, and he appears to be stuck as an infant.

Cousins

Recently, the arrival of their many cousins has left them all seeking one another. Their abilities all vary, and they have yet to meet up.
Under each set of parents, the cousins are listed from oldest to youngest in that group.
