Xenith's Deal

DATE: 6/4/17
PLACE: Partially at the Road.

You awaken the pendant on the neck of Xenith.
Someone named Xenith is attempting contact with you.
You tell [to Xenith] : Greetings, Xenith. How may I help you, today?
Xenith tells [to you] : Hello Klyavrite! Thank you for introducing me to Barne, he's been a very sweet friend. I was hoping to hear from you. I think I may need your help, actually. You see, in order to marry my fiancee it is her family's tradition that I gift them two goats and a cow.
You tell [to Xenith] : *Chuckle* I see. So you hope to acquire two goats and a cow, then? You do remember that in order for me to give you something, I will take something from you, correct? That is how I operate. It is usually nothing of great importance. Usoa and Calzier both have made deals with me in the past, and they are perfectly fine. Do you accept this? If so, what you ask for shall be yours...
You tell [to Xenith] : As for Barne, he is very gentle. I do believe he has tamed our Usoa, though. It pleases me to see both of them lean on each other.
Xenith tells [to you] : Of course there's a cost, which I pay gladly. But I should be clear, if it was as simple as buying a goat I'd go buy one. This needs to be a perfect physical specimen, all three. The best goats. The perfect goats.
You tell [to Xenith] : I can do that for you, yes. Since you have accepted the terms, allow me a moment to comb over the lands to find what you seek...
Xenith tells [to you] : Excellent. And then you can tell me where it is and what I need to do to acquire it!
You walk down the fog to Kuri below.
You walk down from the sky to Kuri below, a view of The Aether Realms visible briefly before your foggy stairwell disperses...
Xenith looks at you.
Xenith smiles to you.
Klyavrite comes bearing gifts. As he steps off of the final step, the strange apparition causes two, absolutely perfect goats to manifest along with a cow that is an excellent bovine specimen. Each is attached to a little leash that Klyavrite's skeletal hand extends to Xenith, the garbed figure awaiting the man's acceptance of his gifts. Granted, the moment that he takes the leashes, his mouth will start to feel perpetually dry, as if he hasn't had enough to drink and is dehydrated. Of course he isnt, but it won't change the fact that his tongue is fat, heavy, and dry in his mouth.
Xenith frowns quietly as the animals manifest, "Oh...oh no... I can't..." He looks confused from the animals to Klyavrite, almost horrified, "You've just...brought them to me?!"
You say [to Xenith] : Of course. The cow is from Rajan. I paid a handsome price for it. The Farmer will be able to buy at least five with what I offered. The goats are both from Gyllene. They were less expensive, but you'll find that they are pristine upon further inspection.
Xenith blinks quietly, almost blinking back tears, "But...now I need expend no effort. I thought...I thought you helped people, be better? To just have my desires brought to me... that's awful."
You say [to Xenith] : Would you prefer I send them back with directions on how to acquire them?
Xenith frowns and brushes his thumb against the corner of his eyes. "Well that seems silly now. I suppose I expected you to tell me to climb a cliff and slay a giant and claim a sheep with golden fleece from his flock. If I said I wanted the man who killed my father dead, would you just kill him?"
Klyavrite looks as thoughtful as a cloaked skeleton can. "Perhaps you should be more specific when you ask for something. I tend to assume that most people that ask me for things prefer no effort. If you wish to expend effort, then you prefer information than my outright help. I know many things, but I am not quite a mind reader. I mean no offense, but please be more specific in the future so that I may better serve your desires..."
Klyavrite once more offers the leashes to seal the deal.
Xenith looks at the leashes, then at Klyavrite's skeletal hand, then to the lack of face in the blue robed figure. Tentatively, like a child, he asks, "Klyavrite...you aren't a bad guy, are you?" He still doesn't reach for the leashes.
Klyavrite gazes at Xenith when he poses his question, chuckling lightly. "That's a subjective question. I don't consider myself any better or any worse than anyone. I have done bad things, but I have also done very good things. It depends on the nature of what is asked for. I do feel quite protective over those that wear my pendant, but I do no damage unless necessary for the defense of those that need me." His hand falls some, head tilted partially to the side as he maintains his grip on the leashes. "Would you prefer that I send the livestock back? I feel as though my presence is no longer desired."
Xenith continues to frown, brow knit as he wrestles internally, "No. I made a deal, and I should honor that. You did something for me" He reaches out for the leashes, adding "But, you shouldn't just do things for people you should help them to do for themselves. Important things, I mean. It's how we learn how much we are truly capable of. How we learn to be better versions of ourselves."
Klyavrite nods, handing the leashes to Xenith. The feeling would be exhilarating and addictive, as is true to the description on the pendant. "That is wise council, Xenith. Council that I will take into consideration in future deals. I apologize for my assumptions and hope that this will not lessen your opinion of me."
Xenith nods quietly, drawing his blade and in three swift strokes plunging it into the hearts of the beasts. Xenith casually drops the leashes and begins cleaning his blade while he claps his lips together, trying to moisten his dry mouth. "Thank you for listening, Klyavrite. Now, to find my own livestock. Can't start a marriage off on a poor first step."
Anouk waves.
Xenith is standing over two dead goats and a dead cow.
Klyavrite fades away.
You tell [to Xenith] : If you would like, I can search for the next best specimens and tell you how to acquire them. Let me know. For now, I'm falling dormant. I extend my apologies once more...
Xenith tells [to you] : I would like that.
You tell [to Xenith] : I will not take anything from you for this deal, as I botched the first one. I hope you do not mind, but I require no payment. You can find the next best cow in Haavi, and one goat in Rajan and another goat in Sjolen. Also of note...unrelated to this deal...your friend the pooka may be in a spot of danger. The details are unclear...
Xenith tells [to you] : Thank you, Klyavrite.
You tell [to Xenith] : You are quite welcome. Good day.
