Kelpie

Forms

Kelpies main forms are those of a horse, most often dark though there have been reported sightings of ones of lighter colours. They are beasts of illusion which opt to shift to human forms that suit their needs. Currently there are no known male kelpies in the land, lending to the theory that this race does not exist for the male gender. However there are tales that they could exist, perhaps in other lands or known by different names such as ceffyl dwr.

Offspring

If for any reason a child of a kelpie is not a kelpie itself, it is known that they are likely to have the ability to still breathe underwater.

Lore

There is a lot of mysterious myth and rumours surrounding this race. They are known to lure people to bodies of water in order to devour them. For this reason those who hang close to rivers, ponds, waterfalls and sometimes the sea are sometimes suspected to be one. Many a parent will often forbid their child from exploring too close to certain streams etc for past horrors that could have occurred there with a Kelpie. For those above reasons it is often thought to be a death wish if you should become romantically involved with a Kelpie, being devoured by them is a high risk.
